Fishing

There is plenty of excellent fishing to be had within a 1 hour drive of Armidale. Fishermen can find Rainbow & Brown Trout in the colder mountain rivers and streams to the east and Murray Cod, Golden Perch, Catfish, Red fin and Black Bream in the warmer rivers, streams and dams to the west of Armidale. The waterways in the New England District are stocked annually by angler and fishing clubs to ensure adequate fish populations for fishermen and for the natural breeding stock. Fishermen can go fishing on their own or they can take advantage of one of several fully guided fishing tours offered by local expert anglers.
